Jetlag pills - check
Cough medicine - 100 mls or less - check.
Plastic bag for the plane - check.
Phone charged - check
Vidoe camera - to charge
Camera to charge
I have a veritable electronics shop of cables and charges on board.
In 24 hours I will be on the plane.
The excitement is building - slighly - I still feel a bit underwhelmed - but I am looking forward to Singapore Air again - though this time I hope for a TV that works.
There are a few things to sort out on arrival in rome - and recent reviews of the hotel suggest it should pass the test.
I can find less on the web about our hotel in Capri than I could 6 months ago - not sure if I should be worried about that or not.
Its all a bit late now - the wheels are in motion and we are ready to roll.
Rome at last check was averaging 26 degrees during the day - that is warm enough - I packed an extra pair of shorts
No doubt I will take advantage of the free internet in Singapore - see you then.

Packing
Monday Week - departure day.
Things are going pretty slow - only one week of work to go, but everything seems to be done - so all there really remains to do is pack - so I feel strangely blase about the whole affair at present.
I don't think it will hit me until it is check in.
Who knows what the month will have in store for me.
Current temperature Palermo 21 Degrees at 2.50am. Nice.

The countdown begins
It is one month yesterday until I get on the plane to take me to Italy.
Things are coming together nicely. I have the first lot of documents out, and the rest to go this week.
It is now time to start getting excited and time to start looking to see what I need to take, think about a suitcase and what minimal number of things I will take. Also what to take on an electronic front - do I buy a new camera, do I deprive those at home of a camera for a month - and miss some of those great kid moments.
I gave a talk at a local Travel Club on the tour last week - went well - though the feedback was I could have had a few more pictures.
Today is fathers day - Caro got a small Moleskin Diary for me with a wee note and a nice picture of mum and the kids to take with me. Very nice - bought a tear to my eye.
For lunch we went to the recently relocated South Vietnam Restaurant.
They have branched out into Vietnamese Sandwiches which I haven't had since I was in Ho Chi Minh last year one one side and the traditional Pho on the other. Fantastic food - even Ellie gobbled it up, and the traditional Vietnamese Coffee was great - really really recommended.
Speaking of the food we fall in love with while we travel - I was in Christchurch last week at the
House of Travel 20th Birthday Conference. I purposely booked my trip home later so I could tick off the Bill Hammond show - and what a feast it was. Auckland you would be sad it isn;t coming here. The other thing I must do when in Christchurch is have a decent Souvlaki, there are several locations to chose from - and as pictured - it was true to form, tasty and in my book beats a kebab any day.
